Sunlit Creek Info

Painting the properties of vibrant warm colours against cool.

A pastel painting where sunlight and reflections play on the water

Sunlit Creek

This Pastel painting will show you how to consider the varying vibrance of light from direct and reflected light and shadows on a shallow stream. We also look at the colour and transparency of the water.

Nearly all colours chosen, have a variation in tone. Lighter and darker variations are needed as well as some that are influenced by warmer or cooler variations.

You will work with the vibrancy of Queensland tropical sunlight which is reflected in the colours of this painting.

Learn how to consider the varying translucency of the submerged rocks and the direct and indirect reflections and shadows.
